Coach Dan Flanick

Director of Player Development & Experiences

Dan Flanick is the founder of Baseball School CNY, co-owner of SkanStrength, and Associate Head Baseball Coach at Cayuga Community College. With more than 25 years in athletics, Dan's background spans collegiate baseball, strength & conditioning, exercise science, and coaching athletes from the youth through collegiate levels. A former catcher with degrees in Exercise Science and Sport Pedagogy, Dan has a particular passion for teaching young athletes and creating healthy developmental experiences that support their growth physically, psychologically, and as players.

Coach John Rizzo

Baseball School Senior Coach

Coach John Rizzo is the Head Baseball Coach at Cayuga Community College and a Senior Coach at Baseball School CNY. Since taking over the Cayuga program, Coach Rizzo has led the Spartans to four conference championships and five consecutive Regional Tournament appearances while earning MSAC Coach of the Year honors in 2022. His program has produced All-Region, Player of the Year, All-American, and Rawlings Gold Glove recipients, and he brings that extensive collegiate coaching and player-development experience to his work with young athletes at Baseball School CNY.

Coach Phil Madvek

Baseball School Coach

Phil Madvek brings more than 25 years of baseball experience as a player, pitching coach, and instructor. A former Division II player at Purdue University Northwest, Phil has coached at the collegiate level in pitching and strength & conditioning roles and has worked with players across NCAA, NAIA, and junior college baseball. Today, Phil is a science teacher in the Syracuse City School District and serves as a Senior Coach at Baseball School CNY, combining his background in education, pitching development, and athletic preparation to work with players from the youth through high school levels.

Coach Cregg Scherrer

Baseball School Coach

Coach Cregg Scherrer is a Skaneateles native and professional baseball player whose career has taken him from Skaneateles High School to Division I baseball at the University at Albany, the Cape Cod Baseball League, and professional baseball. A two-time All-CNY selection and member of a Cape League championship team, Coach Cregg works with Baseball School CNY players on hitting, fielding, throwing, and overall skill development while sharing the habits, preparation, and understanding of the game developed throughout his own playing career.
