About Coach Cregg

Coach Cregg Scherrer is a Skaneateles native and professional baseball player whose career has taken him from local youth and high school baseball to the Division I level, the Cape Cod Baseball League, and professional baseball.

A 2019 graduate of Skaneateles High School, Coach Cregg was a four-year varsity player and earned All-CNY honors in both 2018 and 2019. He was also named an Under Armour Preseason All-American during his high school career.

Coach Cregg continued his playing career at the Division I level at the University at Albany, where he spent five seasons from 2019–2024 competing in the America East Conference.

In the summer of 2022, Coach Cregg earned a roster spot in the Cape Cod Baseball League and helped his team capture the Cape League Championship that season. The experience gave him the opportunity to compete alongside and against some of the top collegiate players in the country.

Since 2025, Coach Cregg has continued his playing career professionally, including time with the Trenton Thunder and Rocky Mountain Vibes.

At Baseball School CNY, Coach Cregg works with youth, high school, and college players across hitting, fielding, throwing, and overall skill development. Having progressed from youth baseball in Skaneateles through the collegiate and professional levels himself, he brings players a firsthand understanding of what development looks like over time.

His coaching emphasizes not only skill development, but also the habits, mindset, preparation, and understanding of the game that have helped him continue progressing throughout his own playing career.
